Where does my water come from?
Water Management maintains four deep wells in Eastpoint, Florida. All four wells draw from the Florida Aquifer and the water is pumped to the island through piping attached to the new St. George Island bridge.

What is a backflow device?
It is a plumbing device installed in your water line on your side of our meter that prevents fluids at your service location from entering our water lines. The backflow device must be installed by an accredited plumber and must be inspected annually by a certified backflow inspector.

Why is the connection fee ("tap fee") higher in St. George’s Plantation?
The additional $122.77 is designated as “Allowance for Funds Prudently Invested.” The purpose of this additional amount is to allow the utility to recover the cost of installing water lines throughout the plantation.

How much does it cost to establish a commercial connection?
Commercial connection fees are computed according to the intended use. The tariff includes a schedule of uses with estimated gallons per day. Commercial connection fees are computed and quoted by Water Management Services.

How do I apply for service?
Water service is provided upon payment of the appropriate fees and deposits and the completion of an application for water service.

How much does water service cost?
Our rate structure is determined by our "tariff" as regulated by the Florida Public Service Commission and is outlined in detail in the Water Rates section of this site. Initial connection fees and monthly charges vary according to meter size and water requirements.

Do I have to pay when I do not use any water?
Yes. There is a minimum charge each month whether the water service is connected or disconnected. This charge is for the availability of water, and is designed to cover the underlying cost of the facilities.

If I sell my property, does the water connection stay with the property?
Yes, the water connection is assigned to the service location perpetually.

May I turn my water off at the meter?
No, the meter is owned exclusively by the water company. Use of the valve on our meter to turn water on and off for your convenience is considered tampering and is not permitted. All customer are encouraged to install cutoff valves on their side of the meter for personal use.

What do I need to do to discontinue my account if I sell or lease my property?
When change of occupancy takes place, written notice is required by the outgoing customers, who will be held responsible for all water service used until written notice is received. If written notice is not received, an application of a succeeding occupant for service will terminate the prior account. Telephone orders to discontinue service are acceptable and the water company will use reasonable diligence to follow-up. However, verbal orders should not be deemed binding until confirmed by written notification to the company.

What do I need to do if I suspect my meter has been misread?

How much time do I have to pay my water bill?
Meters are read at the beginning of the last full week of each month. Bills are mailed during the latter part of that week. The bills are due and payable when rendered, and the printed due date is on the 1st day of the following month, and are past due after the 20th of that month. All past due accounts are subject to disconnect after a 10 day written notice, as well as a $5 late fee. After disconnect, a $21 reconnect fee must be paid in addition to the past due amount.
